I have built a JP1.2 interface using Tommy's 6-18-07 revised schematic. I've successfully connected to my JP1.3 remote (RS 15-100) a couple of times, but I've also blown diode D2 THREE times!
Can anyone suggest what might cause the diode to blow like this. By "blown", I mean that current flows both ways through the diode.
I'm no electronics wizard, but I can use a multimeter to test various components and points in the circuit. Any help would be reatly appreciated.
Regards,
Mark Hand
Keep blowing diode D2 in my JP1.2 interface

OK, hold on. I jumped the gun on my diagnosis of blown diode. It appears that the diode does not test the same in the interface as it does stand-alone. So...I changed out D2 three times for no reason
There may still be a problem with my interface. It seems that what the remote needs is a reset in order to work properly. After unplugging it from the interface, I need to push a button or two before plugging it in again.
I will read through Tommy's excellent troubleshooting guide again. Sorry to have bothered anyone with the incorrect diagnosis.
