|
|
The URC 9910 is a JP1.0 remote, right? I've done some searching and come up with no definitive answer (though, I may just be a bad searcher).
I've tried my JP1.0 cable and my JP1.x cable (which I know works) - neither work. jp1xtest doesn't find anything, and I can't get Comtest to cause a restart. Both cables appear to freeze the remote when they're plugged in (every segment in the LCD display is lit, and the remote is unresponsive until the cable is unplugged).
Any ideas? |

There is no JP1.0, it is just JP1.
The 9910 uses a JP1 cable. It cannot use a JP1.x cable. JP1.x was supposed to be for JP1.1, JP1.2 and JP1.3. (I haven't kept track of various posts about issues with JP1.x).
A 9910 might well be locked up the whole time a JP1 cable is connected. Despite that, the JP1 cable may work to read and write the eeprom of the 9910. Then the 9910 should work with the new programming after you disconnect the cable.
Different batteries may change the behavior of the 9910 with the JP1 cable.
Hopefully you know which is pin one in the 9910 six pin connector and which is pin one in your JP1 cable. |

If the 9910 locks up when connected to a JP1 cable, that tends to imply that the cable is faulty. _________________ Rob

Alright. I reinstalled drivers for the USB JP1 cable (from DIY), restarted, and now... I'm one step closer.
When trying to download from the remote, I get the message:
"It appears that the interface failed midway into the operation. This problem can occur if the interface is faulty or if the EEPROM you are trying to read is larger than $8000 (the maximum size supported by IR)."
I'm using the RDF file for the URC-8910 / URC-9910 / HTPro One-For_All Extender.

If this is a remote that you have never downloaded from or installed anything on you should be using this RDF
CPT0CPT0 (URC-8910(Old)_9910(Old)_8910(New)_9910(New)_HTPro).rdf
Not the extender one. _________________ Nils

Okay - thanks for that! I had tried both, but I wasn't sure.
Still, I'm getting the same problem.
Maybe DIYgadget sold me a bad cable?

Just to be sure
1) Have you tried reversing the cable on the remote?
2) Have you tried downloading after a 981 reset? _________________ Nils

Yes, to the first. When I reverse the cable on the remote, it freezes and won't respond at all.
...and I'm not sure what 981 reset is?

Hrmmm. I just went to a clients and learned the Audio Authority codes into the new remote... (the reason I'm doing all this). Damn.
Maybe I can learn them into another remote to store them, while I reset this remote. I'll go dig and see what I have.

Alright. I backed it up to a pronto.
Did 981 reset.
Same error message.

Still no luck connecting the 9910. I'm guessing it's a bad cable? |

I had a similar problem with my new URC8910, and JP1 parallel cable, I solved in the IR program:
1) Advanced
2) Transmission Delay
3) changed from 0 to 250
