urc-8080b02 - how to activate keymoves?
Hi, newbie here. I have a urc8080b02 that accepts a device upgrade via jp1 simple. I am trying to operate a Venturer SVP580 5 disc DVD player with no original remote. I have modified the rmdu for the Kawasaki SVP500 to operate 70% of my functions. This was defined as setup code 1390.
Where I am having problems is with the extended functions, (those that RM adds as KeyMoves) for example Shift+1 thru Shift+5 that I would like to activate the Disc 1 thru Disc 5 respectively. When Shift+1 is pressed the led lights but there is no response from the player. When I use the Brute Force method laid out in the excellent IR help file by Vickyg2003 (thank you Vicky!), the player responds.
When I view the upgraded file in IR the entries show up under the KeyMoves tab but seem to have no effect thru the remote. How do I make the remote send the commands. (There was a reference in the readme of an extender for the 8080b02 that said to add a protocol to activate it. Is that what I am missing?
Thanks,
David
Also, how do I program the Vol +/- and mute to control the TV volume in all modes?

how do I post the IR file?
I'm sorry, I don't see how to post the IR file.
I figured it out. Here is the link http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=5046

When you are trying to activate the shift 1 are you pressing shift twice before hitting the number 1?
Normally on unextended remotes you have to hit shift twice to shift a number button. All other buttons it's just shift then button.

Re: urc8080b02 - how to activate extender codes
The IR file that you uploaded doesn't contain any key moves so none of those shifted functions are assigned. Verify that they exist in the RM upgrade and then try recopying the upgrade into IR.dtroutor wrote:Where I am having problems is with the extended functions, (those that RM adds as KeyMoves) for example Shift+1 thru Shift+5 that I would like to activate the Disc 1 thru Disc 5 respectively. They are in the RM file and I have uploaded it to the file section. Here is the link. http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=5049
I have tried to enter them into the remote manually but even though the led lights up when the buttons are pressed there is no response from the player.
Thanks again.

If you're sure the key moves are correctly setup in IR and you have uploaded them to the remote, try pressing your SETUP button instead of the SHIFT button. IIRC, the SHIFT button is a dedicated button on the 8080 but isn't used for what we refer to as shifted functions. Two presses will be required for any numeric key (i.e. SETUP-SETUP-1 for Disc 1).

What does the extender have to do with being able to use the shifted versions of keys? This is a base function of the remote not related to an extender. If an extender wasn't being loaded for one reason or another you should have more issues than just the shifted version of some buttons not working.
What is the exact process you are using to get it to work when you say "When I use the Brute Force method laid out in the excellent IR help file by Vickyg2003 (thank you Vicky!), the player responds."?
