Guide Remote from Radio Shack

Has anyone played around with any of the "Guide Remotes" from Radio Shack?
I had used it faithfully in the past , but the site is no longer active for updating it.
There is a single row of pads that look like it needs "poggo pin" connector to program.
The model I have is an earlier version that used rs232 connection for updating with their "Remote Linker" software.

Any information on this topic would be appreciated.

I think you are the first person to raise the subject of this remote, so it looks like it's up to you to provide more information.

Have you tried taking the remote apart to see what's inside?

Will take it apart and see whats inside

Thanks for the response in regard to the guide remote. I will try to take it apart over the next week or so ( time permitting) and note the main components inside. As i mentioned in the original post , it was nice to have the guide remote around for the wife to read through the available movies without disturbing the movie on screen.
I find rs232 communications so interresting and want to learn more about how to use them to control various other devices.
I've spent a lot of time reading and not enough time trying to "Get 'er done"
