JP1 USB -- Unable to open device.

I just received my new USB cable from DIY Gadget - 10 days via airmail to Austraila. I downloaded the software and Windows driver from their website and installed it separately (different drive) from the stuff I used with the parallel interface.

The first problem I had was that every time I plugged the USB cable into a hub Windows wanted to install a new device. When plugged directly into the computer the problem went away.

Windows shows the Delcom driver installed, and IR.EXE reports the driver working OK. However when I try to download from remote, I get an error: "Unable to open device. Please check connection." I get the same message whether the interface is plugged in or not. I have USB selected in the Interface menu.

I downloaded the latest driver and IR from the files section, but still got the same error message.

What next?
TIA
Jim

btw, When I searched the forum for "unable to open device" using Google I got 6 hits, 5 of which returned "Template->loadfile(): No file specified for handle qrbody". The 6th was dated 2003.

That's a problem with the way Google stores it's links. The trick is to open the cached version and then click on the subject line as that will open the real thread.

Here are all the hits...

Thanks. I thought it might be Google related after I posted.

Problem solved. It was a registry problem. I made sure all the references to the jp1 directory pointed to the new location and the download worked.
