Codes? General Instrument 350i ku/C analog Sat rcvr
1. Device: General Instrument Innovation 350i (NOT SUPER)
2. Type of device: Sat receiver
3. Year: 1992
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-6692/URC-6690
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? No
7. Checked the file section? yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes
9. Partially working setup code? no
I have been trying to get this old general instrument 350i innovation series (NOT SUPER) to react to something. I have been thinking the thing is defective...I checked output of IR receiver, I see its receiving stuff...just nothing I have sent to it will will make it react. Front panel buttons work...
Confusion grows greater with the fact that several versions of the General Instrument 350i seem to exist...350i innovation series, 350i super and some possible other variants.
Only built in code in URC -6692 for my URC-6692 is 0869 and I suspect this is for a Motorola DSR-4xx (Starchoice) type receiver.
I even tried a friends Harmony 520 with downloaded codes from Logitech site, I suspect these were user submitted and these seemed to be a 0869 (popular sat code for General instrument receiver) code clone...no reaction from my old 350i.
One4all suggested these that are not in the URC-6692 : SAT: 0184, 0193, 0361, 0532, 0554, 0555...I am doubtfull.
Any help appreciated.
Claude

Re: Codes? General Instrument 350i ku/C analog Sat rcvr
I didn't find any data for any G.I. sat device that doesn't match SAT/0869. But I have seen a few Motorola Sat devices that use G.I.'s cable signals rather than G.I.'s Sat signals.
I'm not sure what's in the 6692. The common setup codes for G.I. Cable signals are 0276, 0476, 0810 and 1376.

Can you read the part number on that IR receiver? That should at least tell us the modulation frequency of the correct signal.Hulkinator wrote:I checked output of IR receiver,

I don't have any information on SAT/0184 or SAT/0193, but here's some info on the other GI SAT codes. I've included the EFC for CH+ so you can do a quick test with each of them. If you find one where the CH+ code works, I'll create a full upgrade file for you.
SAT:
0038 NEC1 131.121 (ch+ = EFC 121)
0050 NEC1 131.121 (ch+ = EFC 116)
0071 NEC1 130.110 (ch+ = EFC 123)
0554 NEC2 128.109 (ch+ = EFC 245)
0555 NEC2 128.109 (ch+ = EFC 253)
The following GI codes all use the 4DTV protocol (like 0869) so you can skip these:
0361 GI 4DTV Official
0532 GI 4DTV Official
0627 GI 4DTV Official
0869 GI 4DTV Official

Hey Claude,
Do you have the ability to make the 350i respond to different addresses? If so, have you changed it to an address other than the default address 0?

Never tried different adresses...never had access to that...read on...why?
I never had the original remote for this 350i. I picked it up for close to nothing and wanted to add it to my motorised Ku band FTA antenna setup for those occasional Ku analog network feeds...
the front panel buttons do only ch + - and 2 or 3 other functions...never even seen the onscreen menus for this box...
thanks

This is good news (I didn't notice this post earlier). I have created a full SAT/0554 upgrade for you here:Hulkinator wrote:Hey! 0554 NEC2 128.109 (ch+ = EFC 245) works...!!!
probably 0554 would be all go but its not in the URC-6692 B00 i got here...I guess O4A tech support was right after all...
...whats next?
Thanks a lot for the help by the way...

The function names are just the buttons that the codes were assigned to on the old 15-1995 remote, so they might not be that meaningful. Therefore, could you test the upgrade to see what each button really does and then re-label the function names to the true functions. If you feel that there are still some more functions that are not accounted for, you can try testing some of the gap OBCs (if you don't know how, ask).
When you're done, please re-load the upgrade in the regular SAT folder with "General Instrument 350i ku/C analog Sat rcvr" as it's name.

bear with me as I am learning Jp1 concepts, Km and IR as I am doing this...
I pasted Upgrade code and protocol parts of .txt file in IR, uploaded and a few keys are working: numeric keys, vol + - and channel +-...mute is like vol - and thats about it...
I cant see where how rest of txt file starting with
Key Move Code:,,,997,,,,,,,,,
is used/pasted...and suspect this will aid in some other keys going?
Thanks

It sounds like you're trying to use a KM .txt file directly (opening it with notepad or something similar and taking parts from it). That is not the way to use it.
A .txt file formatted for KM should be used only by loading it into the KM excel sheet or the RM java program. From there you can edit it and/or copy its output for use in IR.exe

Oh yes...I did load it up in KM (first try was not working Km security settings that why I had pasted in IR directly) and then pasted to IR with similar results...
Now please point me in the right direction to read up and work to add unsupported buttons...I think this is where I ask about "testing gap OBCs"...
Thanks all

Load this upgrade into IR and then into your remote...
Upgrade Code 0 = 07 D0 (SAT/2000) GI EFC Test (KM v9.08)

Then test every button to see if it does anything. If you find a button that does something, check the list below to see what it's OBC is and then add it to your current KM file.
