URC-8811B00 and the Toshiba R-D400 DVD

Post by tgrins »

1. Device: Toshiba R-D400
2. Type of device: DVD
3. Year: ?2007
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-8811B00
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? Yes
10. Learning remote question? not sure

I'm looking for the discrete power codes for the above device. I found an upgrade for Toshiba DVD Recorders in the file section, which I have have moved to the URC-8811.

Now for my question. I remember that there's a key combination on the 8811 that lets me send any code, and that when I 'm looking for a discrete code, I just iterate through 000-255 using the special code sequence...but I can't remember the key sequence that allows me to try every code. Does anyone else remember?

Thanks for your help. I swear I'll write it down this time ;)

First off, be aware that Toshiba is a well known TOAD brand, so finding discretes is unlikely, but to answer your question, all you need to do is...

1) Put the remote into DVD mode
2) Tap the SET button
3) Type 000 (hold the last digit to simulate holding the button

That will test EFC 000, next try it with 001, etc

boy, with that arcane, complex series of keypresses, no wonder I didn't remember ;)

Thanks, Rob!
