Confusion regarding interface types

Post by Capn Trips »

Over time, a LOT of sticky posts have evolved in these fora, and sometimes it may be daunting for a newcomer to wade through the chaff (not that ANY sticky post is really chaff-like) to the really key ones required to get them off on the right foot.

In the past week, there have been two instances of folks getting (or building) the wrong interface for their remote. Although the remote-to-interface relationships are explained in THIS post, it appears that this sticky post is sufficiently obscurely labelled that folks may not be drawn to it before making a cable decision. Might I suggest modifying the Beginner's Read This First post to reference this one, and further, to rename this one like "Choosing the correct interface! (ignore at your own risk)" or something like that to make it stand out?
