Controlling two Panasonic devices - DMR-E80H and DMR-E85H

I have used JP1 with my Panasonic DMR-E80H HDD/DVD-R for the past year and recently purchased a second Panasonic unit, DMR-E85H.

I am having trouble setting up my remote to control both units.
Remote: 15-1994
Protocol: Panasonic
Upgrade: Panasonic_DMR-E85H_Robman
(I made some button assignment changes with KM)

With the remote I changed the DMR-E85H setup to recognize "Remote 2". Now the DMR-E85H does not respond to remote signals (it flashes "Chk Remote2").

I've tried to set this up the DMR-E85H as a second device using Panasonic protocol with sub-device 16 (actually, I've tried a combination of values for sub-device and OEM Code...1, 2, 16, etc.). I thought that "Remote 1" is sub-device 0, "Remote 2" is sub-device 16, etc. but I am not sure I understand how this all works. Regardless of what I put use, the remote continues to control the original DMR-E80H and not the DMR-E85H.

Two requests -
1) Advice on how to set up my remote to control both Panasonic boxes, and
2) Advice on how to temporarily "reset" the DMR-E85H back to accept Remote1 signals (I tried factory reset by pressing Ch+ and Ch- simultaneously on the front of the box - this reset all settings but the box is still flashing "Chk Remote2"

Thanks

Step 1. Change the Panasonic remote to use "remote 2" signals.
Step 2. Learn those signals using the 15-1994 to see what device codes/sub-device codes are used.
Step 3. Change the 2nd upgrade to use those device code(s).

Thanks Rob. In my unending and enduring faith in JP1 I purchased both the DMR-E80H and DMR-E85H without the remote control. I may need to break down to buy the Panasonic remote one of these days.

I tried once more and set Sub Device to 16 (the Panasonic box Remote Code is set at Remote2).

KM:
Remote: 15-1994
Device Type: Cable
Setup Code: 1492
Using Extender: No

Protocol Name: Panasonic
Main Device: 176
Sub Device: 16
If I had a 3rd device, Sub Device would be set to 32.

This worked fine. After I changed the 15-1994 (extender 5) Macros to match. I was using C_AUX1 , M_AUX1 , O_AUX1 , T_AUX1 , etc. as the assignments for both AUX1 and AUX2 buttons. Once I change the 2nd box to C_AUX2, M_AUX2, etc. everything worked.

So, to summarize, they all use the Panasonic protocol with a main device code of 176, and...

"remote 1" = sub-device = 0
"remote 2" = sub-device = 16
"remote 3" = sub-device = 32

Is that right?
