What is the name of the file that has the keys section? Someone else in the slingbox forum couldn't find this file on their dreambox 7025.

The code=<hex value> matches up with the first byte of the hex code in the Dreambox device upgrades. The dreambox uses protocol id 016C which is a 2 byte protocol so each hex code needs to be 2 bytes. By changing the hex values, you will change the mapping of IR signal sets to keyname/function within the dreambox. You then upload a new device upgrade into your remote to send these new codes. A user in this thread was able to do it recently.

Blinky i have been able to upload the device upgrade.
The remote recieve light blinks on the dm500 but nothing happens i am chasing up as to why i have to copy the file modify it and then place in a different directory.
I would have thought that i would only need to edit the original file.
But for some reason i cannot edir or delete that file from the original directory

I don't have DM7025 but as far as I've heard it doesn't have rcdm????.xml file.

The original file is here: /share/tuxbox/enigma/resources and that's read-only part of the file system.
After you edit the file it should be returned here: /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/resources (only the /var/ is writtable).

You replaced keymap section of DM500 rcdm with keymap section I posted on Sat Industry forum.
This keymap section is for DM7000. Try editing rcdm in your DM7000,

Gents i nearly have this beat.
The fault i found in the file was using an incorrect word in the file.
In the original rcdm5xxx.xml file it refers to to "menu" on line 17 of the keys secyion of the file in the modded 700 file it had "dream" the box has now accepted the file.
The problem i now have is the xml file does not match the rmdu file.
I am trying to change the hex values and to tidy up the file i wanted to remove the lines that do not have anything to do with the remote.
I change the values as i go and when i come to line 11 i can delete it as the remote does not have a back button but line 12 does not allow me to delete it.
Any ideas???

Just to be clear, you are editing the XML file, not the RMDU file, right?

You probably don't need to delete lines as the DM500S might be sensitive to the format and order. You just need to match up the hex codes in the RCDM5XXX.xml file with what you have set in your modified RDMU file.

First i was editing the xml file.
And then moved onto the RMDU the hex codes in there do not match so i was going to change them
Can i do this?
I was going to change the hex values for each button that is used

Yes, you should be able to change the hex codes in the RMDU file. In that other thread, that guy changed digit0 from 00 00 to 10 00, digit1 from 01 00 to 11 00. So if you choose 10 thru 19, then you have to edit the rcdm file to match.

The RDMU file is used to create a device upgrade that you then use IR to upload into your Dreambox V2 remote. Within IR, you should be able to see what hex codes are used on the buttons. Try modifying the digits first and then go from there.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok so now i am very close i have the file in the remote and i have created the correct rcdm5xxx.xml file the problem is the box does not seem to be using it.
The original file is in the share folder the modded file is in the var folder.
I thought upon rebooting the box the box looked in the var folder and if there was a file in there it transfererred it into the share folder or does it just use it from the var folder.
Either way it is not responding to the modded signals and only the original signals.
Anybody have any idea as to why this is happening or am i still doing something wrong here?
Cheers

Share is READ-ONLY, box is using rcdm from var.

You are doing something wrong, but I can't guess what.

Upload your original rcdm (from share), modified rcdm (from var), IR file (with comments) and
modified device upgrade in RM/KM format to diagnosis area.
Then post link to uploaded files here.
