upgrade for a Homelinc to Motorola DCP501

Well, I've done pretty well so far.

Based on the info in the software forum I added a JP1 connector to the Home linc based on the RS 15-1925 schematic. It seems to work. It came up as a URC 7070 or 15-1925 I used the URC 7070

I located the upgrade for the Motorola DCP501 (both KM & RM).

I got it into RM, made adjustment to the keys and copied it over to IR and uploaded to the remote (Homelinc).

It didn't work

I noticed that the KM version has a manual protocol with ugrade notes on the general tab of RM. I tried copying and pasting to the IR protocol Add.

I got an error message saying the upgrade was 126 bytes and the remote could take only 110 bytes.

I found an RM version of the Motorola DCP501 upgrade that called out an AWIA protocol again noted in the description box on the general tab but no entry on the code page for protocol upgrade.

I tried the copy and past routine again without success.

I'm at a loss at this point. Any ideas.

1) The Motorola DCP501 is a JP1-capable remote. If you found an upgrade file that was configured for the DCP501, the upgrade is for some other device (the device to be controlled), not the remote itself. The fact that the upgrade was configured for the DCP501 is really irrelevant, since almost any upgrade could be configured for it. Since you haven't stated what device you are trying to control, we don't have enough information to diagnose this further.
2) Always provide a link to the files you mention in a post here.

These sound like upgrades for two different unrelated devices that just happened to be configured for the DCP501 remote.

JP1 remotes using the 6805 processor (like the 15-1925 & URC-7070) have a maximum size limit to a protocol upgrade. The actual limit varies from one model remote to the next, but the limit for your remote is 110 bytes. This only applies to the protocol upgrade, not the device upgrade.
