JP 1.1 - which cable?

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

JP 1.1 - which cable?

Post by buggin »

Before I get more frustrated trying to get this to work. Which cable should I be using for a JP 1.1 remote? I purchased a "Simple JP1 cable" from DIY and it only has 4 wires (nothing on pins 1&2). I've tried sending them e-mails twice, but get no response.

- Remote = Cox Cable M7820 (UEI) JP 1.1 port
- I've tried IR505 & JP112 (on my C drive)
- Printer port is enabled, with No Interupts set
- No printer set up for printer port use and I am the Admin account
- Driver Status shows the parallel/serial driver present
- I've also tried the "reverse the battery" trick to no avail...

Results:
- No response from the remote. Make sure your Interface is plugged into JP1 correctly.

I'm running out of ideas... I keep reading through the newbie section trying to find what I may have missed, but come back with nothing new to try.

Help, please!

The "Simple" cable is not for JP1.1 remotes, so don't waste anymore time trying to get your cable remote working with it.

You'll need a JP1.x cable for this remote. "JP1.x" cables are designed to work with both JP1.1 and JP1.2 remotes. Cables sold as "JP1.2" will not work with JP1.1 without further modification.

Also, once you get the JP1.x cable, you'll need to use IR7 to download/upload to the remote. You had mentioned IR505 which is quite old.
