|
|
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had suggestions about running different commands on a key down vs. a key up.
The whole idea is this... I have a Philips TV set that leaves the Volume display up for a good 5 seconds after hitting vol+/vol-... much too long in my opinion.
My idea was to have the button send the Vol signal while pressing or holding the buttons, and send an Exit when releasing.
I originally tried to create a macro that sends the Volume command and then the Exit, but when holding the key down, only the Exit gets repeated.
I think I can figure out how to write a special protocol for this (I'm a professional programmer, but it's been YEARS since I programmed in assembly), but wanted to see if anyone had a better idea.
Anyway, thanks in advance! |

If it were me, I would customize the official protocol so that it sends the exit command once the button is released. If your TV is a Philips, I'm guessing that it uses the RC-5 protocol, is that right?
Here's a PB file for RC5 to get you started...

Yes, it's RC-5. I'll try out the PB file and see how bad I mangle my remote
Thanks for the quick reply... I'll let you know how it goes. |

So Number6, how did it go? Exactly what did you do? |

Hmm... I'm embarrassed to say that I never got around to it. I've been running around like a head with its chicken cut off.
I'll have to revisit this later. |

Hi Number6,
I have another idea to accomplish your task, if you have a learning remote.
With such a remote you could design signals in the learning section
("by hand") which have a repeating part and a part that is "sent once upon
completion of other bursts".
It doesn't require any programming or customizing any protocols.
What type of remote do you have?
I think I could help you if you are still interested and haven't found a solution yet... |
