Hi Folks,

First post here. I have a URC 7560 and a JP1 USB lead and have had fun and some success setting it up. But I lusted after the Kameleon Gen III #8308 which has appeared on Amazon UK recently. Its pretty cool but I was surprised and a little concerned to see no JP1 (or similar) connector.

Have OFA abandoned the connectors (their charged support call centre is £0.5 UKP /minute)?

There is no panel that can be removed or anything that I can see that might allow access.

Is this right - have OFA abandoned the idea?

Shame on them.

I am still struggling to get it set up properly with a Humax 9200t PVR. Now if only it had a jp.....

This remote is still very new, so there's not much info out there. I would have assumed that it was a JP1.3 remote, but if there's no 6-pin or 6-pad connector, I'm guessing that it isn't.

Could you double check that there isn't a 6-pad JP1 connector in the battery compartment. The folks at UEI seem to think that there is one.

Also, this remote has a modem onboard, so even without a JP1 cable, you should be able to load upgrades into it, once we add support for it to our tools.

Hi,

The Link didn't work for me.

The 8308's battery compartment is a tube affair. Each battery (4XAAA in total) is loaded in a long tube that runs the length of the remote. So at the end of the remote there is only a small hole the diameter of an AAA battery. I have peered into the hole with a torch and if there is a contact pad in there then someone is going to have to adapt some gynaecological tools to get a connector onto it. I can see no contact pad or pins.

The remote does indeed have a modem - so all is not lost.

Thanks

Yes, it's a JP1.x interface.

Search the forum for info on the URC-8305, which is quite similar.

You'll have to open it up to gain access to the pads.
