Pioneer VSX2016 AV Receiver (updated Pio Master)

Post by Capn Trips »

Here is yet ANOTHER Pioneer Audio Master file. I started with Rob's current master, and confirmed/refuted as many functions as I could by learning from the VSX2016's OEM remote. Notable notes:

(0) Lots of new functions identified and are marker with a "new +" somewhere in the notes column;
(1) Deleted all CD functions (did not apply for my unit); re-sorted by OBC (mostly) - but kept INPUT section separate;
(2) 6 new INPUTs identified (iPod!, HDMI1/2;USB!;others);
(3) Many 2-byte functions discovered to be listed in REVERSE order! i.e. the function AS LEARNED FROM THE OEM REMOTE decoded cleanly in IR and was EXACTLY OPPOSITE of the listed OBC order in multiple cases. I suspect that ALL 2-byte codes in Rob's upgrade may be listed in reverse OBC order. These are annotated as "OBCs reversed" (others suspected)
(6) All iPod functions are "new +" (I have no iPod, so can't test them)

As for the reverse order OBCs, I checked and double-checked. My learns and decodes are correct, and 180 degrees out of phase with Rob's master list. Have those 2-byte codes worked for other folks in the past? :?

P.S. This is an AWESOME receiver. Includes multiple composite, s-video, component and HDMI video inputs, converts each one into ALL of the others (except HDMI only passes as HDMI - but everything converts TO HDMI!) Getting robbed isn't ALL bad! :wink:

The Pioneer signal is a derivative of NEC2, and like NEC2 it repeats the complete signal over and over as it's sent, so the OBC1 vs. OBC2 thing is immaterial, the signal will work either way.

When I organized the master list, I made a guess as to what the master OBC were and what the sub-OBCs were. When arranged how I had them, you would typically find a group of similar functions where the main OBC was the same and the sub-OBC changes.

OH! :eek:

Although (naturally) I believe that the way I sorted the functions, they seem to be more "naturally" grouped, but that's clearly just a matter of personal preference and opinion. :lol:
