Panasonic SA-HT740 (5 Disk Player)

Post by BlueRacer »

I am totally new to JP1. I am trying to get my remote to work with my new DVD player. When I go to the OFA site they list 3 codes that are for Pansonic DVD Players. They are 0490, 0677 & 0632. My remote accepted both the 0490 & 0632, but neither worked. It wouldn't accept the 0677 code. So I am looking for somewhere to download that code to see if it works. I have also had my remote learn a couple of functions from the DVD player remote, but then it indicated that my memory was full. Could someone please let me know what the best way to proceed would be? I have the following:
Remote: OFA8910
DVD Player: Panasonic SA-HT740 (5 Disk Player)
JP1 Cable
IR.exe
keymap-master-v8.23

Here's the info that I gleamed from the post...

1. Device: Panasonic SA-HT740 (5 Disc Player)
2. Type of device: DVD player
3. Year: ???
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-8910
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? ???
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? ???
9. Partially working setup code? No
10. Learning remote question? ???

The model number of this "DVD player" leads me to believe that it's really a "home theater system" rather than a true stand alone DVD player. There is an upgrade in the file section for an SA-HT390 HT system...

If your learning memory is full, save your current memory image, then delete all of the learned signals so you can learn the signals that you need to decode.

Yes, you are correct this is a new home theatre system that I just purchased.
I will try the upgrade to see if that works. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Robman,
How exactly do I take the file I downloaded for the upgrade and get into IR.exe. I tried clicking on the "Devices" tab and then add. I then pasted the contents of the file. It didn't work.

You need to open the upgrade in either KeyMapMaster or RemoteMaster.

There is an output section in the GUI of each of those programs containing both a device upgrade and (for that file) a protocol upgrade.

One at a time those two things must be copied to the clipboard from KM or RM and then pasted into the appropriate tab of IR.exe. (By "one at a time" I mean copy, paste, copy, paste; not copy, copy, paste, paste).

Ok, I opened up the upgrade file in KeyMapMaster and then copied that code to the Device Add in IR.exe. I then went back to the "General" tab and changed the code for the DVD player to 2018. I then uploaded that to my remote. But it didn't work. The remote still indicates the old code#. What am I doing wrong?

You need to copy the protocol upgrade to the protocol tab in IR.

Sounds like you forgot to copy & paste the required Protocol upgrade as well.

Your right, I did forget. When I did the protocol and I was then able to download the code to my remote. I then tried my remote with my DVD player. The only buttons that worked were the couple of buttons I taught the remote earlier(Power & Play) Fastforward, Reverse, menu, etc. buttons wouldn't work. What would be my next step? I appreciate all your help!!!

Post the .ir file (containing what you loaded into the remote to test) to the
diagnosis area and post its URL back here.

It's easier to look at what you did than to guess.

Thanks Robman, johnsfine & Mark for your help. The article was extremely well written and easy to follow. I ended up setting up the device from scratch. It works great! I was wondering. Is it possible to pull another device that is in my remote into KeyMapMaster so that I can customize it?

Well done. If you haven't do so already, please remember to load your new upgrade file into the file section to share it with others.

This is something that's easier for the experts to do, so if you state which code you want to modify, one of us will load a KM file for it into the "UEI" folder for you.
