1. Device: Proview MH-462SU
2. Type of device: TV
3. Year: 2005
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-6131B00
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? YEs
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? YEs
9. Partially working setup code? N0
10. Learning remote question?N/A

I'm a newbie so please forgive my ignorance...

I bought a 6131 (not the N model) and sent it in to OFA to be upgraded, giving them the model TV etc. OFA sent it back programmed with TV:0835 but that does not operate my TV.

After poking around on the forum I found an upgrade for the Proview RX-326 and knowing sometimes manufactures use the same codes/chipsets I built a JP1 cable and uploaded that code but, with no luck. I did notice that the 0835 code and the upgrade file had the same HEX and EFC codes for vol, mute, power, ch and a couple of others. But none of them work on my TV.

I am hoping to control my Tivo, surround sound and TV with a single remote. I have codes for everything but the TV. All I really need are Power and Video input controls for the TV if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any assistance. Ken

Well, the first thing I would ask is have you assigned the upgrade code TV:0835 to a device button?

If that's NOT the problem, I would recommend that you upload your IR filie with OFA's upgrade and yours both loaded, as well as the actual KM or RM file you used, and provide links to them here.

Yes I did assign the codes to a button one at a time and tested. I'm certain that I was successful because when I used IR and download from the remote it would show the code I set.

I uploaded two files. The first is the default download from IR with the OFA factory upgrade. It is located here...

The second file is a download from IR with my upgrades using the Proview files I found on the forum.

The files I used to make the upgrade from the forum.

Everything you did looks fine, so I can only guess that this is a completely different codeset.

Since you have the OEM remote, my recommendation would be to get a learning JP1 (1.X) remote and cable and learn and decode the OEM. (You can get an 8910 and cable - once he has them back in stock - from Rob for $39 shipped)

If that's too expensive, then the CaptureIR hardware is cheap to build and use.

I was afraid that might be my only option. Of course having the learning remote would come in handy down the road for future use.

One other possibility, I have a Logitech Harmony 667 remote that is USB programmable. I can program it via Logitech’s website for the Proview TV and it works. Is there any way to use IR or another program to read the codeset from the Logitech?

Now I know you’re asking, if I have one that works why am I trying to get the 6131 to do this. Well, the Logitech is clunky and the buttons for PVR lack a lot. I really like the 6131 and it is the closest to a TiVo remote I can find.

Whatever the answer, thanks for you help and to all the folks that have made JP1 what it is. Ken

Yeah... what Capn said: get a JP1 learning remote and learn the Logitech signals.

I'm not sure the codes within the Harmony are accessible in a way (i.e a data format) that any of our tools can process.

Some Proview owners have had success with TV code 0030.

Give TV/0885 a try:

If that doesn't work, would you be willing to send your OEM remote to UEI so they can capture the signals? If you are, send me a PM and I'll give you the details.
