Emerson TV/VCR Combo Code Request

Hello. This is my first post to the group, so here goes.

1. Device: Emerson EWC-1901
2. Type of device: TV/VCR Combination Unit
3. Year: 2000?
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: RCA RCU810
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? yes
6. Still have original remote? have a generic replacement that works
7. Checked the file section? Found code for EWC-1301 in file section (Video Accessory 2049), same unit with a 13" screen? Mine is a 19".
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes, none found
9. Partially working setup code? none found
10. Learning remote question? no, unable to learn codes from the generic remote

When I attempt to load the 2049 code into the remote it defaults to a 1464 code and does not work the TV/VCR. This happens whether I load it as a TV, VCR or a video accessory. I have successfully loaded codes for my JVC VCR, 4DTV, two FTA satellite receivers, and my Insignia home theater receiver, so I must be doing something right. I don't use the VCR side of this unit, only TV, so I don't care if the VCR functions are available or not. Thanks.
Michael

What problems are you having when you try to learn the signals from the generic OEM remote?

During the learning process the RCU810 responds with "success" but when I try and use what it just learned I get no action at the TV on any function.

Update-after going through the built-in codes again, I discovered that the VCR 0017 code will operate some TV functions (channel, volume, etc.) However, I have that mapped to the TV button, and when I press the TV button, the remote sends out a "power" command on its own. Can this action be turned off?

If you create/install/use an upgrade for the TV setup code, you can choose to include or skip that "feature" when defining the upgrade. So that's the easier way to turn that feature off.

If you continue to use the built-in setup code then turning that feature off requires the "extender".

I don't know a third way.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I tried the TV 2049 code for a similar Emerson unit, but whenever I attempt to transfer that upgrade to the remote it ends up being 1464 instead. I don't know what 1464 code is used for, I didn't use that code.

Success! I found an Emerson VCR code (VCR 1000) from the file section and was able to tweak it and now all my devices are working like I want. Thanks for the help.
