I've never heard of this remote, is it recognized when you download from it using IR? One of the main reasons that we ask what the model number of your JP1/UEI remote is, is so that we can see if it's a learning remote. Is it?

Also, you say you checked the file section, does that mean that you tried the Terapin upgrade that's there and have confirmed that it doesn't work.

Thanks, Rob,

I goofed up. I don't have a UEI remote. I was just giving the number on the back of the custom remote. I'll try the Terapin TT-3800 that is in the file section. It's been so long since I have added a device I have to re-learn how to do it. :-)

I'll post what I find out about how it works.

If you don't have any UEI remotes, how do plan to use the Terapin upgrade?

Terapin TT-2200 codes

Post by Karl_Boekelheide »

Ok, I hacked out something that works. I don't get how the KM excel thing works. The TXT file I uploaded (Terapin_TT-2200DVD.txt) does the job when loaded into KM and then cut and pasted into IR.exe. KM shows all the old Key mappings that were in TT-3800. I couldn't get KM to let me edit anything. I says everything is protected. So, I hacked the actual text file.

If someone can point me to how I just walk down a list of keys and put in the hex values I'd be pleased. I'll even fix Terapin_TT-2200DVD.txt and post it again.

Thanks, Karl

You have to allow KM to run macros in order for it to work. Then, you would make your changes on the "Functions" sheet. You can change the name of the function and the code in the column next to it. All of the other columns are protected because they are generated by KM itself.

I'm still curious how you intend to use this JP1 upgrade if you don't have any JP1 remotes, though.

I have about 6 of the Radio Shack 2116's. I bought up a bunch when RS discontinued them. I was getting the IR/radio model with repeater for $5-$10 as they starting sitting on RS' shelves. I love the remote and I've been using them and this forum since about 2002. I just have to relearn how to do things every time I buy a new something. We talked years ago about how to decode the prom in a 2116. I did a couple extenders to give me double click and long hold back then.

This Terapin was a real pain because the stock remote is very touchy. You have to point it right at the device and it takes many attempts to get the learning mode to get a clean read. Now that I've been able to read them all (and re-remembered how to work KM and IR) I have a useful device.

Thanks for all you do for this forum, Rob.

You threw me off when you said that you don't have any UEI remotes, as of course, the 15-2116 is a UEI remote.
