It's not a paint, and available in only limited colors
but it might work for you, as long as you want black blue yellow or red

Have you used this stuff yourself, and if so, what's it like?

it's like a liquid rubber that dries to a soft cushiony rubber. The intent of the stuff is to create handles, or cushion handles/grips on tools, but I think a thin smear on the top of the button only might work pretty well, but I can't say I've successfully used it for that purpose.

I wonder what it would be like to dip a remote casing in this stuff? Probably something like this ...

this post.
Oh, and if you're wondering what Marineau's remote looks like (without the painted buttons of course) here's a pic...

Dipping a whole casing into this stuff would be a BAD idea! It's on the thick side, and would build up on the inner edges of the button holes, you'd probably never get the buttons back in, or if you did, they'd probably get stuck on the first use. This was the reason I said to put a thin smear on the top of the button only, it would significantly add to the overall dimension of the sides of the button and remove whatever tolerances there is. Honestly, I'm just waiting for them to come out w/a green color, then I'll give it a whirl for matching the colors of my DVR remote. The pictures you posted are spray paint jobs, while I don't particularly care for the look, the second one at least looks as if it might serve a purpose.
