Hi,
I'm getting an error saying it's not got a response from the remote.
Thanks

Maybe this suggestion is too obvious, but it had me stuck for a bit at first. At least with version 7 beta 2, did you restart IR.exe anytime it failed to detect the remote? Apparently, once IR fails to detect the remote, it will not reset and will show the failed error message even if you subsequently have everything in correctly until you exit out of the program and relaunch it. |

Hi,
humm,
I did try exiting sometimes but I didn't try it after every change.
I'll have another go tonight.
Thanks

Hey Ian,
I'm still a little concerned that your cable might not be 100% perfect. I know it still works with your other remote, but I've heard of broken cables that work with some remotes but not others before.
I'm more than happy to replace the 8910 if it's broken, but as you have a homemade cable, I'm afraid that the replacement might not work with it either. _________________ Rob

Hi Rob,
Ah, thanks for that - that's what I was asking above (whether a cable could be wrong but still work on certain remotes but not others).
I'll take it to bits, check it over and get back to you.
I dont really want to have to send the remote back unless I really have to because of the shipping costs.
Thanks

Here's a quick update on this situation. As Ian was unable to get his URC-8910 working, I sent him another one. As I expected, this new remote didn't work with his cable either. Upon further investigation, it turns out he hadn't added the wire that connects pins 1 and 2 together (he didn't realize that it was actually needed). Once I pointed this out, he added the wire and his cable now works with both remotes. _________________ Rob
