1. Device: Dish VIP-622
2. Type of device: PVR
3. Year: 2006
4. UEI Remote model: URC-6131
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? Yes
10. Learning remote question? No

I've almost got most of my Dish VIP-622 programmed by using a code for the 921. However, I'm trying to program the Format and Dish buttons for use on my URC-6131, and I don't see an equivalent on the 921. Does anyone have any EFC codes for these buttons?

Thanks!
Keith

Actually, I may have spoken too soon. I poked around to see if I could find any codes for the PVR-942 and found the post at http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6608&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=15

In case anyone else is looking for them in the future, here's what's working for me:

num 0 240
num 1 146
num 2 114
num 3 210
num 4 019
num 5 243
num 6 083
num 7 147
num 8 115
num 9 211
channel up 081
channel down 209
power 082
tv/vcr 176
last (prev ch) 049
menu 051
program guide 144
up arrow 081
down arrow 209
left arrow 145
right arrow 017
select 016
pip on/off 077
display 018
pip swap 109
pip move 045
play 050
pause 014
rewind 236
fast fwd 076

exit 080
jump forward 172
jump backward 204
pvr 237
search 206
page up 179
page down 178
Dish 140
Format 110

I'm trying to work a macro that will allow me to use the S-video out for SD channels to fill my TV (Sony 40" XBR800) and then go back to normal mode when viewing over my component cables. I think adding that format button may just do the trick!

There are several various Dish device upgrades in the file section, and they match the codes you list. You need not necessarily find an upgrade for your EXACT model. Usually the manufacturers use a consistent set of codes in their product line.

One caveat, standard definition Dish DVR's do not have a format button, so look only at HD DVR's in the file section. Also, many upgrades are not listed under Satellite, but in a sub menu of PVR.

Jack

Edit: I didn't see that you got it working, but I'm leaving the post for future reference.

Did you get this working for your VIP622(6131) If So, can you post your upgrade in the file section for others. I am trying to get my VIP622 working too, but am having no luck with the existing codes in the database.
Thanks,

This file appears to be a good starting point. At quick glance most of the functions match those above.

Looks like adding tv/vcr, dish, and format codes to a few in dvr section will do the trick.

If I remember correctly from my days of building my 721 upgrade, those with 921's found that the TV/VCR on the Std def boxes was the Format code on the HD boxes.

BTW, I sent a note to an engineer that I knew at Dish about 3 years ago and told them that they really needed to put discretes for this kind of stuff into the IR codes, they had plenty of empty ones. He said that there was a good bit of support in doing it in the company and they were going to do it. (there are Discrete on/off in many of the upgrades) You might try poking around with the unused codes to see what is in there. I'm pretty sure that Dish uses a 6-bit code so there are not lots of empties.

Also, has anyone figured out what they did with the 2nd remote on things like the ViP 622 and the DVR 625? That remote only emits UHF but I have an IR repeater and have been planning on looking at different device/subdevice setups to see if I can make the IR sensor respond to the 2nd remote.

I guess it would be helpful from someone who konws the protocol to give me a lesson in how the codes are formatted. (I guess I could read the code some day and try to figure it out)

Do you know IRP notation. If not, you probably should learn it. It is a very convenient form for describing IR signal structure.

The KM file linked earlier in this thread is for Dish_Network protocol. A good starting point for info on most protocols is the protocol specific entry in the DecodeIr documentation. In this case:
http://john.fine.home.comcast.net/ir/DecodeIr.html#Dish_Network

There you can find the IRP notation for the protocol:

{57.6k,400}<1,-7|1,-4>(1,-15,(F:-6,U:5,D:5,1,-15)+)
