In which device category should I use for my DVD recorder?

I tried DVD with JVC brand but without any success...

BTW, if you have the extended codes for the JVC DVD recorder DR-MH300, they are welcome

1. Codes for DVD recorders are listed with the regular DVD codes, if they exist.

2. Then your remote probably doesn't have the right code.

3. EFCs are useless if you don't have a working setup code.

Just for the record, according to this file, the JVC D10 recorder uses the JVC protocol with a device code of 111. This matches DVD/1164 which is a new code that's not in many remotes. I only see it listed in the URC-8203 and URC-8206 remotes (in Europe).

Indeed, this was confirmed by UEIC support (quite satisfied by them!), it is either DVD/1164 or DVD/1275. Now, I have to find those code somewhere...

Looks like I'm having more trouble than expected with my JVC DVD recorder

When learning a signal from my remote and transfering it with IR, DecodeIR appears to be unabled to decode it. The IR file is in http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3804

Using DecodeIR 2.32
Frequency is: 37735
Sent repeadly: +184 -45474

NB: based on other email in this thread, I tried to do the right thing. Not sure anyway...

Sorry, there is nothing in that signal to be decoded. It isn't a good enough learn to guess what the right signal is nor to even guess what went wrong.

Get new batteries for the JVC remote. Read some instructions on proper technique. Then try learning again. Try learning a few buttons, maybe some will have good results.

If you get any decent learn we probably can find a pre existing upgrade so you won't need to learn all the buttons.

But did you try the file Rob suggested? Maybe that was all you needed.

Read THIS and try to learn a handful of functions. If they decode, you're all set, if not, post the IR file with a link again.

I recall seeing posts with details about:
good batteries
correct distance
not moving the remotes while learning
ambient lighting
etc.
(all the factors that might make the difference between a good and bad learn)

But I don't have a URL handy.

I indeed did read the FAQ and sticky comments before (BTW, the 'how to use the learning function' sticky post did not work for my 8811 -- better use the manuel of the remote). Nevertheless, it looks like my 8811 was only able to get garbage.

But, I tried to install the upgrade mentionned above, and, it worked!

Looks like a lot of upgrades are quite similar (just need to perhaps move a few keys).

==> what would be great is a file section (or a search tool or ...) based on device/code rather than brand of device.

BTW, I received from UEIC two lists of extended code. Does it help someone to post them somewhere?

The SECOND post in that linked thread (for LCD remotes) which I basically plagiarised from Rob's first post) does indeed discuss batteries, distance, stability - but not lighting . If Rob was inclined to supplement the first post to include those types of recommendations, It would probably make sense for the 1-stop learning shopper.
