1. Device: AOC (Acer) 15" LCD TV A15X221
2. Type of device: LCD TV
3. Year: 2005
4. UEI Remote model: 7800/8811/9800/etc.
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yep.
6. Still have original remote? No -- thats the problem.
7. Checked the file section? Yes.
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes.
9. Partially working setup code? No.
10. Learning remote question? No.
I got this TV on final clearance at CompUSA for $50 -- unfortunately they didn't have the remote.
I have already tried the one Acer LCD file off the forum and it doesn't work.
Does anyone else out there have one of these TV's -- with the Remote?
If so, then PLEASE contact me. If I can even get a set of a few of the main codes (like Power, CHUP/CHDN, etc) learned then I can use that as a good starting point.
I can create a device on my own without much effort -- but without a remote to start from, I'm hosed!
FYI - I have (of course) tried all the native AOC devices built into a 7800 series already. A code search failed as well.
Thanks!

Boy it's amazing how little online data there is for IR codes for AOC TV's, and even less for Acer.
I did find one source of data for AOC TV's that was NEC1 protocol, device 4, with all the OBC numbers in the range 0 to 31. It would be harder to get the function name to OBC pairing. Easier for you to try an upgrade and test some of those 32 functions and see if they do anything.
OFA's support site for USA remotes says AOC TV is 0030 or 0019.
0030 is NEC1 device 4, so that is probably the same as that other data I found.
0019 is listed in the devices spreadsheet as some other form of NEC1 device 4. I'm not sure what that is.
Some of your OFA remotes have TV/0030 and TV/0019 so you could try them even without JP1.
For other models of OFA USA remote the support site also lists TV/0185, which is in your urc-7800, and TV/0003 which I think is in your 9800.

Yeah, I was surprised at how little info I could find as well.
I can still use the TV without the remote but its a real nuisance when it comes to changing channels (it takes a LONG time to channel up from Channel 5ish to Channel 76ish or so).
Thanks for the info on those device codes -- I just wish they would work.
I've tried all of the theoretical Acer/AOC OFA base codes in both the 7800 and an 8810 and haven't had any luck at all. I also did a full code search on the 7800 (still need to on my 8810W, 8910, 9800, etc.). Actually, I should probably dig out my old 15-2116 and 15-2104 and try them as well (although I may have to "unextender" them first).
I suspect that if I can't find SOMEONE else who actually has the original remote I am basically about out of luck.

I would recommend that you do a CODE SEARCH using the URC-8910, as that has the most up to date code library out of the remotes that you have. It's quite possible that this TV uses the same codeset as some other brand of TV.

Apparently TV/1365 is the right code for the AOC A17UX231, so it will probably work for you also. They guys at UEI will be sending me the code info tomorrow, once I get it I'll create an upgrade and post it for you.

Thank you!!!
Which remotes support Device TV/1365?
(do any out of the box? I would doubt any of mine do due to their age.)
Doh! Someone needs to smack me up the side of the head for not thinking to contact UEI/OFA in the first place.
I have been using JP1 and doing my own upgrades for so long I never even thought about contacting them directly for an upgrade via phone, e-mail, etc.

hey, sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just bought that tv, and am having the same problems with finding a remote.. i would love to use my remote for directtv (it's a universal), but all the codes for AOC and Envision don't work. I downloaded that file you posted, but I have no idea what I'm looking at. Does it contain the code to input into my remote? Thanks again.

You have stumbled into a JP1 forum (JP1 is a process whereby you can load NEW codes into your remote), so the file in question is a JP1 file. You would use it, with the JP1 software, to load the AOC code into your JP1 compatible remote.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm at work right now so I will not be able to try the codes you recommended until I get home later. But i believe I tried most of those codes and they didn't seem to work. Anyway, sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. It was the first link in my google query and I normally have good results with the forums I find through google searches. Anyway, again, I'm sorry and thanks for the help.
