PLEASE use the #1 Code Search FAQ.
Otherwise there are too many questions to ask.

I never heard of an "omega irc08". I assume it is NOT a JP1 remote.pedpolly wrote:1. Device: Maxim mx 11-21
4. JP1 Remote model: omega urc08
I never heard of Maxim brand for DVD players either.
There is an infrared protocol and device number that is used by about half of the DVD brands that most of us have never heard of . A OneForAll remote would have a few setup codes for the protocol and device.
Each DVD model using that protocol and device code uses a different arrangement of the function codes. For example the Stop command on one model might be the Menu command on another.
If you selected one of those setup codes on a OneForAll remote and tested all the buttons, there is a good chance that some button would do something (vs. a setup code for the wrong protocol or wrong device code in which no button would do anything). Once you find some button that does something, you have a good start at finding the whole code set.
A OneForAll remote also lets you remap keys, so once you find the right function mapping you can program the remote, even though there is likely no built-in setup code that fits well.
Probably the "omega urc08" also has a setup code in which some function would do something. But the experts in this forum wouldn't know which setup code that would be, and if you found it the omega urc08 probably doesn't have a way to remap keys to make the results useful.

This is probably the most important question, and you left it blank. Does that mean that you don't know if you're a JP1 user or not?pedpolly wrote:5. JP1 user?

Not knowing what that question means seems to be common among newbies here.
Maybe the template should be changed to ask:
Do you have a JP1 cable?
It isn't exactly the same question (obscure cases such as having the cable but no compatible PC) but it is close enough and it's easier to understand.
But in this thread, given lack of original remote and lack of online data for that DVD brand, the question about a JP1 cable is less relevent than usual.
