newbee basic (stupid) question(s)

Hi,

I have to have a remote with the ability to program timed sequences, since I use my tv as part of my wake up sequence. Is it possible to take a remote, like a ofa 9910, for example, and add this functionality using JP1 code, et al?

I currently have ofa 8080 and 8800, and RS 15-1995. The light on my 15-1995 is dying - can it be repaired? (btw, my 1995 never smelled bad, and I have a very sensitive nose! Laughing ).

The last question is, whether anyone knows where I might be able to find another 15-1995, with a working light (second most important feature....)

Thanks to all, in advance, for your help.

The modern OFA / JP1 remotes do not have "Timed Sequences", so you are stuck with the "Producer 8" series of remotes (including the 15-1995) I'm afraid.

To answer your last question, ebay is probably your only hope.

I do have some "Producer 8" remotes in a box somewhere that I keep meaning to sort out and offer for sale, but as the demand for them has never been great, I have not gotten to it yet.

So, Rob,

Would you please tell me if the light on the 15-1995 can be repaired, and, if so, how much do you think it would cost? If not, gee, I do wish you would peruse your collection to see if you have any of the 15-1995's that you could/would sell me. (This is a continuation of a discussion we had circa 2004... back then you answered my query via email... <sniff>)

It depends on what's broke. If it's the transformer, it can be replaced, but the part is only available in the Asian market. Richard at HovisDirect.com used to carry the part, but then he closed up shop. I don't know if he still has any of them or not.

If it's the backlight sheet itself, this is a custom part, so the only way that you'd get another one is by taking one from another 15-1995.

I guess that there is no easy way for a lay person to tell which one it is, eh?

If you have another EL power source, you could try connecting that to the sheet.
