Why did you answer n/a and provide no explanation to the learning question?
According to my information, the 7800 is a learning remote, and it would be much more useful and quick if you'd simply learn and decode a handful of signals. Then it's more likely that someone can recognize a built-in setup code that might match (presuming you don't have enough upgrade space to simply build an upgrade from the decode info, which is the simplest and most efficient solution).
If you don't know how to do any of that, then:
(a) Read the beginner's Read Me's (sticky post linked in my sig below); and/or
(b) learn as many signals as you can and post the IR dump to the diagnosis area with a link to it here and someone will take a look.

i forgot to answer the learning question.
i am doing a remote setup for a friend and don't have the energy to do all the learning from the original remote.
i did an internet search and there are two manufacturers that include the gpx in their remotes and the code did not match up with any other dvd player.
so i guess my friends will continue to use the dvd remote.
at least i can get the satellite and the tv on one remote which will be a big help for them.
