JP1 Remotes

Searched around and came up empty. I am new to JP1, read all the articles and have the KM and IR. Built my cable assy and all is well. Am I guessing I will have to leanrn the buttons then generate a new code via KM?

I have the URC-8810W remote.

The simplest answer is almost always that if you can't find it quickly it is better to create it yourself. Given the tremendous number of IR devices out there and the (relatively) small JP1 user base, it's almost amazing that anyone finds a code they are looking for in the JP1 files. If you're really set against creating your own upgrade, you can also search CCF files at RemoteCentral, but I have usually found it easier to create my own.

Using your learning remote with the latest version of IR.exe, you can usually get the protocol/device/EFC information relatively easily and quickly. Then it's "simply" a matter of importing this information into the KM spreadsheet or an RM upgrade. Of course, there will be a bit of a learning curve with creating an upgrade, but that's what this group is here for. Besides, once you get past the first one, they are typically pretty easy unless you need a complicated protocol/combo.

I found a ccf file at Remote Central, what next with this file? I am not up to speed on ccf files. I guess I need a program to open it and would I be able to convert to a KM file? or pull info from the ccf file and create a KM spread sheet?

OK, starting with the CCF, you will need to get DecodeCCF from here at the Yahoo group. It's been a while since I've used it, but you basically will have to extract the data from the file and manually put it into KM. That's why I said earlier that it is almost better to just learn the signals, since there is really no guarantee that the CCF file is correct for your device and it's not that much harder to learn the signals yourself. But its worth a try anyhow. Good luck.
