JP1 Remotes

Hi:
I have a Sony TV and I´ve made a macro to turn ON TV and turn ON DVD and set the Video mode on TV to Video 4 (which is where my DVD is connected) using the discrete code 029.
The problem is that the TV is slow to be completely ON and the discrete instruction does not work until there is image on the TV.

Is there any way to put a Long Pause without an Extender?

I have an URC 8910 and I use JP1 cable.

Yes there is PAUSE protocol in both KM and RM you can use with or without an extender. Set it up as a keymove and use in a macro between the two commands to your TV. Read the protocol help after selecting it.

There are other things described in verious posts that you may want to try: repeat the Video4 command (so long as it doesn't toggle), or change the sequence of commands in the macro. You can turn on the TV, do other things, then come back and send more commands to TV when it's ready.Though your description indicates you're doing that already.

It is exactly because of this that I chose not to include input selection in my power-on macro (or power-on in my input selection macros). Ivariably the other users of my remote wouldn't keep the remote pointed in the right direction long enough for the entire macro to complete.

Instead, I chose to have a "power on" macro that turns everything on, a "power off" macro that turns everything off, and a number of "input selection" macros that select the appropriate video and audio inputs on my TV and receiver.

I use the 6131 with extender, and I have short-power turns everything on, long-power turns everything off, and input selection macros on my DVD, PVR, AUD, CBL/SAT, and VCR buttons.

I tell everyone "Use a short press of Power to turn everything on. Once everything is on, press the key for the device you want to watch. When you are all done, use a long press of Power to turn everything off."

Your suggestion sounds great, the only problem I have is that I use my VCR and/or my DVD-R with timer to record movies or sports, so if I put an ALL POWER OFF in the Power LKP, if I'm recording something, it will turn OFF the deviceI'm recording on.

On KM's Setup sheet, it's listed as "Pause Protocol (Special)". Just select that as the Protocol

Back when I used a VCR (it's been at least 7 years now), timers worked even when the power was off. In fact, they only worked in the unit was off.

If that's an issue for you, just leave the VCR and DVD-R on all the time. DOn't turn them off as part of your power all off macro.
