Will using a discrete OFF command mess up a TOADTOG

I'm new to all this, so I'm sorry if this is a little basic.
All of my equipment has discrete On and Off EXCEPT my Onkyo receiver. It has discrete off, but toggle on only (and I've researched this quite a bit to know it is true - Onkyo HT-R510).
I am looking at building some power macros and wanted to know if I use the discrete off commands (lets say on a Long power button press), will it cause my Onkyo TOAD device to get out of synch?
I'm still getting the basics down and haven't tried building these macros yet. I could eventually just experiement to see the results, but I figured I would ask and avoid wasting my time trying to build my macros in a way that won't work anyway.
Thanks for your help.
