I've just posted two new articles in the Files>Interfaces folder at the Yahoo JP1 site, one entitled Serial Port Interface for JP1, and one entitled USB Interface for JP1.

Re: New Interface Designs
I've had the pleasure of using Tommy's prototype for the Serial interface. He, Mark Pauker, and I worked to make sure the hardware worked with the software as well as several different remotes. As usual, Tommy's design is well thought out, and it works as fast and easy as the Simple!Tommy Tyler wrote:Serial Port Interface for JP1...

I also built my own USB interface (the RadioShack Box version in Tommy's doc), and it's a nice addition to the JP1 stable of interfaces. It's about half as slow as the Serial or Simple (a limitation of the USB chip used; and we're only talking 2-4 seconds for a typical download), but should solve many of the port incompatibility and availability problems.
Needless to say, Tommy's how-to doc's are clear, easy to follow, and thorough. Nice work, and a big thank you, Tommy
