Those are functionally identical. Looks like the "Deluxe" one will be a bit sturdier though.

The remote - 8910 - is not the problem but it will depend upon the computer you use to interface with it.

Any JP1 cable will fit any JP1 remote that has the connectors. A parallel (simple) interface will only fit a parallel port. If your computer is ultra-new/ultra-portable and doesn't have a parallel port then you'd be better with a USB cable. There are also reported to be problems with some laptops' parallel ports but fewer problems with desktop PCs.
