JP1 Remotes

I have a Scientific Atlantic remote. It does not have the JP1 connector. I had an older one that looked just like this one and it had the JP1 connector already installed.

My question is can the newer one that I have now that does not have the JP1 connector be modified to add a JP1 copnnector?

Just from the description, I have no idea. We would need to see a photo of the PCB to have any clue.
