That was precisely my point. You wrote "DSMs" which ARE Device-Specific Macros, when you meant ALL macros, not just the DSMs. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

Whatever. I don't use many macros except on the device buttons. That's probably why I said DSM. I know what a DSM is. The other two are on the M3 and Sleep button to turn on everything and sleep to turn off everything. I feel like I'm arguing with my kids. |

I'm sorry if my attempt at soliciting clarity bothered you. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

I have experienced the
"Failed to open jp1.2 interface"
Problem.
If I just connect a jp1.x interface (May 18/2006 version) between 10820 and PC, then start IR.exe, select jp1.x in the menu, the check interface will fail withe the message above. The download also fails too. The same problem happened on the revised (Aug 1st/2006) interface too.
Fortunately, I have an original JP1.2 interface (not the combined interface w/o few components, I mean the original design w/o JP1.1 at all), the JP1.2 interface always works. So I pluged it and both check interface and download worked. Then I plug the JP1.x (May 18th) or JP1.x (Aug 1st), then check interface, download and upload are all started working. Not sure why, but I think it is a software issue, not hardware issue. Anyone experienced the same problem on IR 7.0 beta2? The IR.exe I am using is the beta 2 version, size is 1,137,152 bytes.

I've had issues when it fails. Once it fails in an IR session, you cannot do anything without a restart of IR. I can live with that until the drivers are refined. |

I'm having a problem selecting a parallel interface after downloading the data from a JP1.2 remote. I have a JP1 remote I want to download from my parallel interface, but all options except JP1.2 have been disabled. Is this a known/fixable issue? |

try selecting "parallel" from the interface menu. If should show the LTP port address that matches your windows parallel port. Click OK. Then select "check interface". Then retry your up/download. |

It's a known issue with Win98 OS. You can revert back to IR6.2 for JP1 until a new IR7 binary is released. |

Parallel in the menu is grayed out and untouchable.

I'm running WinXP SP2. |

Try copying "gwiopm.sys" to the "c:\windows" folder. Then restart IR. |
