new 8811B00 will not interface

Post by donpickett »

Recently bought a new 8811 to replace an aging 8810. Problem with new remote is simple.

I plug in the JP1 cable and IR does not detect the remote. IR can detect my older 8810.

Any ideas?

Thanks All,

Don

batteries and 8811 no IR interface

Post by donpickett »

Greg,

I had tried with and without batteries. No difference. Probably should have said so in original post. Have since tried with reversed battery, used batteries and so on. Still no joy. Beginning to think I got a lemon.

URC-8811B00

Here's my experience with the URC8811B00 remote.

I have had this remote in storage because I knew my URC-8017B00 was going to give out. I just tried to program the URC8811B00 and ran into the same problem.

The URC-8017B00 uses 2 AA batteries and the URC8811B00 uses 4 AAA batteries.

I am using fresh batteries

I installed 2 of the 4 AAA batteries and jumper the connection to complete the circuit. I used a basic unbuffered interface cable.

I checked to see if the IR program could see the device and it did. I was able to read and write to the device without problems.

The IR program shows a red LED which flashed when I was reading and writing but the URC8811B00 showed no lights (expected because it only gets 3V not the 6V it normally would get)

Give it a try, it worked for me

Billwhat,

I have since moved on, bought another remote here and it works fine. I will try your trick though. I still have the non-responsive remote sitting idle and it sure would be nice if my wife and I had individual remotes that were identical. It may be hard to pry the old Zenith learning remote from her hand, but she does like my One For All a lot.

Thanks for the tip,

Don

For me, with the exactly the same remote, IR auto-check always complained, same for Check Interface. With or without batteries in the remote.

My last test was to ignore the autocheck, put no batteries in the remote, and everything worked like a charmed: I was able to download and to upload to the remote.

My understanding is that this new remote does not comply with the IR test.
