Has anyone noticed if the speed of this remote is not what it should be? I am a little disappointed as to how slow it works. Is there an update somewhere (maybe an extender) that might address the issue? For instance, using the Scientific Atlanta remote that the cable company provided I can turn on the cable box, the TV and my Audio system ver yquickly. But it takes like 5-10 seconds with the Atlas remote I have. Is this how it should work?

Thanks,
Jose

Macros on most unextended remotes are slow. Extender macros are fast. However, there's no extender for this remote - yet.

Here is a device upgrade and a protocol upgrade to patch the Atlas5 3000 remote for faster macro speed.
This is for an unextended remote and only needs to be patched once. After that, you can remove the upgrades.

Save your current .IR setup.
Please make sure CBL Channel Control is OFF so that in TV mode, CH+/- works in TV mode and doesn't switch over to CBL mode.
Add the two device upgrades into IR.
Assign TV/1107 to the TV device button.
Upload to the remote.
Press the TV device button, then press CH+ to set the speed to .007s or CH- to set the speed to the original .26s.
Upload your saved .IR setup to the remote.

Code:

Upgrade Code 0 = 1C 53 (TV/1107) Patch Macro Speed. Use CH+=.007s, CH-=.26s
  FA 00 21 01 00
End

It's in beta form right now, but look in the extenders download section and you'll see it. Macros on the extender are much faster and they can be nested and can be virtually unlimited due to the way that they are implemented.

Binky's upgrade is good as well if you don't want to bite off an extender just yet.

Does this patch work on 30333033?
Does one just assign it to a device to make the patch work?
Need some instruction on this procedure please!

Once you assign TV/1107 to a device, pressing CH+ in TV mode will set the speed to .007s. Pressing CH- will set it back to the original .26s

The Atlas 3033 uses two PID bytes in upgrades, so the Upgrade Code needs to be:
Code:
Upgrade Code2 0 = 14 53 (TV/1107) Patch Macro Speed. Use CH+=.007s, CH-=.26s
 01 FA 00 21 01 00
End

IR will actually translate for the PID difference in the upgrade that binky posted, but it's better to use the correct one in case device assignments or keymaps are different. As it happens, they are the same for both Atlas remotes discussed here (at least for the device & buttons used in this upgrade), so either will work.

Let me make sure I have this clear before I hose my remote!
1. Use the 30333033 upgrade above with the protocol supplied previously
2. Add the upgrade and protocol to the remote.
3. Assign TV 1107 to a device. Any device??
4. In TV mode press CH+
5. Remove the device assignment? (All 5 of mine are used.)
6. Good to go?

Thanks a lot.

I think you have it correctly. I would download & save your current setup, and then restore it after you've done the patch.

In looking at the macro delays in the Atlas JP1.3 remotes, I have noticed that when the built-in power macro is executed, it invokes a 3x delay time. It will still do this after this patch is applied, though 3x.007s may not matter. I don't know if this is a problem for anyone, but binky's patch could be modified to remove the extra delay if so.

With faster macro execution, you may need a pause at times. I've created a Pause protocol for the UnExtended Atlas5 3000 and 3033 remotes. I've also included ones for the Atlas5 1025 and the URC-6820/8820/10820.

Create a KeyMove on the button which will invoke the Pause protocol.
Bound Key:
Device: CBL, Key: phantom1
Function to Perform:
Device: Device Type: TV, Setup Code: 1104
Hex Cmd: 0A 00

The first byte will delay by .1s increments so 0Ah/10d means 1s.

Code:

Upgrade Code 0 = 1C 50 (TV/1104) Use Pause Protocol on Atlas5 3000
 FB
End

Upgrade Code2 = 14 50 (TV/1104) Use Pause Protocol on Atlas5 3033
 01 FB
End

Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 FB (S3F80) UnExtended Pause Protocol for Atlas5 3000/3033
 00 00 02 46 E2 1F 70 C0 70 C1 70 C2 28 03 C6 C0 3B 0E F6 01 0D 2A F7
 50 C2 50 C1 50 C0 AF
End

Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 FB (HCS08) UnExtended Pause Protocol for URC-6820/8820/10820
 20 04 00 00 02 00 CD 2D 90 AE 64 A6 01 CD FF 9E 3B 60 F6 81
End

Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 FB (HCS08) UnExtended Pause Protocol for Atlas5 1025
 20 04 00 00 02 00 CD 41 25 AE 64 A6 01 CD FF 9E 3B 60 F6 81
End
