Yamaha Tuner Power codes

Yamaha Tuner Power codes
Usually one wants seperate power on/off codes for a device. In my case I am using a replay remote and would like to use a power toggle code for the yamaha tuner I have. In the codes for files I have downloaded (Thanks to all that worked on that one:) I only see power on and power off codes. Are there any power toggle codes for yamaha tuners?
The notes in the KM file I am using state:
"Similar to Yamaha HTR-5550/54x0 but specific to 5650/5640
Tested with 5650
All possible EFC's were tried to find any code that did anything.
These models do not respond to power toggle 250
Oer differences between this and 5550 are surround modes"
I guess this means my HTR 5890 does not respond to the 250 code. This means power toggle is not supported on my device right?

It would be simplest for you to just test it.blackrdr wrote:The notes in the KM file I am using state:

It might mean that but I wouldn't think so. It may be that your 5890 needs a second device # to send the signal.blackrdr wrote:

Does none of the Yamaha codes from the remotes manual give it power on and off?
I tested the 250 code without success. I am able to assign power on (EFC 248) & power off (EFC 246) to my replay remote power button in VCR mode. The problem is I would need to assign another button with the other function. Forgive me, I am somewhat of a noob to this although I have leveraged JP1 well in the past, I'm not getting it this time.

This is unclear - the other WHAT? You just wrote that you have assigned both the ON and OFF functions - what more do you need?blackrdr wrote:I tested the 250 code without success. IF you mean that you can only assign ONE of the two discretes to the Power button, simply assign one to "Power" and the other elsewhere. What's the big whoop? I don't know what buttons you have assigned nor what's even ON a replay remote, but pick one of the buttons unused in the Yamaha upgrade and assign the other code to it.
IF you mean you want to CREATE a power toggle function, you can do so using the ToadTog special protocol (but frankly, most people use ToadTog to create discrets from a toggle, not the other way around!).
I would recommend you use the discretes in system Power on and Power off macros for each device (which may require you to use ToadTog for any of your devices that do NOT have discrete power functions and may require use of an extender to assign macros to device buttons).
But barring that, if you intend to individually control each device's power state (as appears to be the case), then just assign the Power Off function to some button the tuner doesn't normally use, like "stop" or something.

thanks for the replies. Sounds like I need to do some research using the ToadTog tool you mentioned. My goal is to have a single power button assigned to the VCR device class on my replay remote that will toggle the power on my Yamaha tuner. Assigning the discrete on or off button to another button is a possible solution as you mentioned although not inutuitive enough for my wife or kids to use.
