JP1 Remotes

1. Device: Polaroid FLM-3201
2. Type of device: LCD Television (HDTV)

3. JP1 Remote model:
Unknown, it came with the TV set and happens to be a perfectly working OFA remote, all code punches and such that I've tried work on the thing. Note that it's a) a five-digit remote (all code entries are five digits), and b) has no learning capability.

4. JP1 user? Yes, but this is a JP1.2 remote and therefore the interface doesn't work.

5. Still have original remote? Yes, this is the original remote, but I want AFCs for macros and such.

6. Checked the file section? yes, nothing named "polaroid" in there under TVs.

7. Checked the Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes, a search for "polaroid" produced no results.

8. Partially working setup code? That's the funny part, the book that came with the TV has a bazillion of those five-digit setup codes, but does NOT list its own TV setup code in the book. So, although the "TV" mode of this remote works fine, I have no idea how I would punch this into the remote if I needed to enter its code.

I know that last one could very well be the show stopper. I don't see how anyone could find the advanced codes if I don't even know the setup code. But hey, you guys have been miracle workers before.

Anyhoo, the big thing I'm looking for is discrete on and off commands for the TV, for macros. I can do pretty much anything else I want with ordinary key moves. Oh, and I tried all of the generic discretes on the "discrete codes" page of hifi-remote.com and those didn't work.

If this remote supports all the normal 9xx commands, it probably also supports the 990 command, which blinks back the setup code assigned to the device button.

1. PRESS the device, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), button - RELEASE
2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
3. PRESS 9 - 9 - 0.
4. PRESS 1, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (1st digit)
5. PRESS 2, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (2nd digit)
6. PRESS 3, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (3rd digit)
7. PRESS 4, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (4th digit)
8. PRESS 5, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (5th digit)

If the remote DOES NOT blink it means the number is 0.
This is your 5-digit setup code.

Changing the subject, are any of your other JP1 remotes learning remotes? If so, why don't you treat this TV jut as you would any other device and capture the signals from the original remote and build an upgrade for it. Even if you don't have a use for it, it's quite possible that some other user will have the TV with no learning remote and therefore no way to create an upgrade themself.

I'm confused by the acronyms. What I want is the list of codes that (for example) looks like this (on the tivo):
726 Instant Replay 245 Thumbs Down 377 Live TV / Guide
474 Jump to Live 503 Thumbs Up 218 Advance

Only, I'm specifically looking for the discrete off code and the discrete on code for this TV.

Not any more, unfortunately. All I've got is this one that came with the TV. My other JP1 remote is no longer in my posession.

I just checked my list and I don't have any data for TV/1276.

EFC is the acronym we use for these codes, it stands for "Extended Function Codes". These are often also referred to as "Advanced Codes".

Agreed. Are there people selling 1994's on ebay or something? I loved that remote.

Sometimes, but rarely. If you'd like a URC-8811 instead, I have some of those available.
