Hi, I am having hard time trying to figure out if I could get my RS to control HP with IR. I never had remote for it but laptop have "consumer IR" input. The only option I've seen so far has been to buy remote from HP and I was even able to find a source anyway. Anybody got ideas on where to start looking for upgrades? I don't think remote even has power button, so scanning for code wouldn't work (I think). Thank you in advance for any available help.

If you buy the remote from HP, do you have the option of returning it? If so, go ahead and buy it, then capture the signals using your 15-2117 and build an upgrade. When you're done you can return the HP remote.
Otherwise, I don't see how you're going to be able to control it as nobody else has created an upgrade for it.
Regarding using the code search function for a device that doesn't have a POWER button, all you need to do is pick a button that you know should work. For example, they always suggest using the PLAY button when looking for CD player codes as many CD players don't have POWER buttons.

If the signals do not get decoded preperly by IR.exe, or you can't figure out what to do with them, come back here for help as one of us will un-doubtedly be able to sort them out.

Well, I guess I spoke too fast. Anyway, I ran to Fry's and borrowed remote for few minutes. Had a hell of a time to figure learning process. For whatever reason (wich I am almost sure experts will easily explain) to learn signal I had turn original remote 90 degree. Anyway, I posted IR file http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=2213 from that learn. I tried KM and to avoid figuring out manual protocols, used RM.nadegda wrote:Well, only if I'll screw up the learning processThe Robman wrote:If the signals do not get decoded preperly by IR.exe, or you can't figure out what to do with them, come back here for help as one of us will un-doubtedly be able to sort them out.The rest I'll be able to figure, I'm almost sure.
EDITED: tried newer dll, it comes now as MCE protocol with single subdevice. Is subdevice what OEM2 means in RM (latest version too)? Anyways: tried that-no success. What to do next?
EDITED: I removed the file from diagnostic area since no help was needed with that...
