Newbie kickstart pls

Post by pdb »

Have just obtained an HTPro remote & JP1 cable.
Have used IR to make a backup.

The codes in the 9811 cover my Receiver but not projector [1310,1410,1510] or Media Center PC [1133,1272,1328] .
I used "Learning" for the 6 buttons req for the Projector [TV]. OK.
Tried to do the same process for MCE [VCR] but even with having "deleted" ALL button functions, "learning" only accepted about 10 instructions b4 the LCD display advised "MEMORY FULL".

So I guess this is why OFA calls this a "Remote-with-Learning" rather than a "Learning Remote" ?
Does this mean there is NO MORE LEARNING possible or does it only apply to the "VCR" device ?

So now I must use Remote Master. Presumably I open the file "CPTOCPx1" for the 9910.
Page 16 of "Just How Easy is it" says "Copy the code blocks from Output Panel over to IR". I can "copy" the data in "Output Panel" but how/ where does one "paste" this into IR ?

The answer was in the next paragraph...
Back in IR.exe you will need to select the "Devices" tab, as shown in Image 7. This is one of the tabs that we skipped over earlier. Press the ‘Add' button and paste the code that you copied into the pop-up window.

One important step you missed, that might save you a lot of time, is to see if someone else has already done an upgrade for your device. (It is quite likely that someone has.) Check the File Section - Device Upgrades.
