Hi all!

I'm the proud owner of a new Sony DVD player (progressive scan!).

Borrowed the Sony device upgrade definition from the Sony DVP-S7000 DVD player, most of it works fine....

EXCEPT....

The Enter key (not very important!) just does not work... When I learn it into my remote, it does work, but the decoded signal seems a bit funny.

Protocol is Sony20, main device is 26, subdevice is 73.

The learned signal reports as EFC 132 or 140.

I've tried using the Sony20 protocol & setting the Enter key to 132, then 140, and it does not work as an Enter button. It does some interesting things... but does not work as Enter.

Anyone have any ideas how I can create a non-learned version of this key? The reason for this is that I am running the extender in my URC-7560 that can't coexist with the learning function.

PS I have uploaded the Sony NS730P device upgrade (with non-working Enter key) already

Any chance you have something conflicting for the Enter key, maybe
a global macro? Is there any chance the keymoves are using Hex
instead of EFC? or maybe EFC/OBC got swapped by mistake.

It seems the IR decode is coming up with the same EFC, protocol, main
and sub devices, as the Sony DVP-S7000 upgrade file (EFC 140) and this
doesn't look like a device that needs a combo protocol.

Try loading the virgin extender upgrade in IR and just one device upgrade
for DVP-S7000 and see if that makes any difference.

There aren't any global macros on the Enter key, I've changed the Enter key EFC in KM a couple of times and the behaviour changes, so it must be changing the Enter key OK.

KM is definitely in EFC mode (and the rest of the device upgrade I borrowed from reads 140 for Enter in KM as well). Just looked and the 140 shows up as xD0 in the IR devices listing against the button I've assigned Enter to.

My question is, why is the IR decode coming up with 132 *and* 140?

I'll try loading the DVP-S7000 upgrade tonight into a "re-virgined" URC-7560, but I don't expect any change.

The 132, 140 thing probably means there are multiple ways to interpret
the learned signal so it gave you both.

The only other thing I can add is Sony seems pretty consistent about
the remote numbering scheme for EFCs. If I look at Sony TV, CD, and
DVD player device codes, they consistently use EFC 140 across the board
for Enter.

It would be odd if all the other keys work and they just chose to only
deviate for the Enter key on your DVD player.

Actually that should mean there is one way to interpret the learned signal, but two ways to create that learned signal within an upgrade.

I thought that wasn't true of Sony20, which may mean it's a bug in my decoder. (I thought the second OBC per EFC in Sony20 produces a Sony12 or Sony15 signal).

I looked there. The EFC of 140 is correct. I also compared it to lots of Sony DVD CCF files I have. The EFC 140 is confirmed by all of those.

Your entries in the Functions table with ov=1 seem strange, since you didn't assign a device number for Sony12 Device on the setup sheet.

But the assignment of EFC 140 to Enter and the assignment of the Enter function to the Enter and Auto keys all looks right. The upgrade ought to work.

Maybe you should upload the eeprom image from testing that to the diagnosis folder, in case there is something wrong with the Enter key there.

It turned out that there *was* a key move overlaid over the enter key (don't know how that got there but there it was). Must've snuck in with those late-night gremlins.
