I have been using Jp1 remote 8811 for some time now and needed to make some changes so I donwloaded current version of ir 6.15. Unforutnately it does not seems to work with the parallel port on my PC. When I try and download from the remote I get the no response from interface error message. I looked in the bios and the port is set for normal (whatever that means) it also has settings for ECP EPP. So if someone has any ideas that I could try to solve the problems it would be appreciated. I did try the software and cable on another machine and it worked so I don't think its the interface. This is a newer mother board using a phoenix bios. I also did a search of the forum and tried the reverse battery suggestion but that did not work either. Thanks

Are you saying that one of the older versions of IR.exe did work on this PC? If so, which version was it? Do you still have that version loaded and have you confirmed that it still works?

Hi Rob thanks for the response. This is a new PC so I just downloaded version 6.15 of IR. I suspect it has something to do with the Parallel port configuration on the new PC . As I stated above I tried the same version of IR on another computer in the office and it worked ok. So I have to concluded that the parallel port on my computer is cuaing the problem. The trouble is that in the BIOS their are a number of setting for the Parallel port , they are SPP,ECP EPP and normal. I tried all of these to see if it would correct the problem bui it did not. THe port addres 378 . SO I was trying to see if you or anyone else might have a suggestion on how to solve the problem. Thanks again.

Any of those should work. Do you by any chance have a printer driver loaded that might be causing conflicts? The best way to test that is to reboot the PC and then immediately try the JP1 interface. Also, make sure the printer port is enabled and error free in the Windows Device Manager.

OK I stumbled across the following. In default mode it seems IR has Auto Check and verify Write both checked I unchecked these and still did not work However when I rechecked just "verify Writes" it seems to be working. IF I check "Auto Check" it stop working. I say seems as it will download from the remote . I have not tried uploading yet. Does this make sense of did I just get lucky?

That makes sense. Until I went USB I had to turn off most of the checking with most of my remotes. By default I set it for no testing at all so I did not have to worry about which remote I plugged in. As far as I am concerned the only time you need checking and messages on is if it does not work to do diagnostics.

well things are till flakey. The most recent error reports states " did not receive response from remote after sending buss address (error0=6,Param)0"
it then list Details: No response from remote etc". Does this give a clue as to what the problem might be. Thanks

edit: error mess age should read "(errorno=6, Param=0)

Try (if you haven't) the reverse one battery trick. Also try it with no batteries.
