15-2116 ext2
TV 0054
SAT 0775
DVD/RCVR 0539 w/ keymoves from AUDIO 1189

basically in MYSYS i have assigned the menu keys to SAT and the channel keys to TV but the "info" button is mostly used with the SAT device so i was wondering was there any work around to moving the info button from the channel group to the menu group?

i would like the info button to remain as defined in the setup codes when pressed from the TV or SAT devices

p.s.
I actually put in a keymove to MYSYS with IR, uploaded it onto the remote, and it seemed to work, although it seemed that you had to hold the key longer to get the device to respond (might be bad batteries). Consequently, when i reloaded my saved setup from the IR .txt file the keymove had changed from MYSYS to TV.

Are you using all eight device modes?

If not then the easy work around is to pick an unused mode an give it the same setup code as your TV mode and a KeyMove for info to be the SAT INFO.

Make MYSYS select that extra mode, rather than TV, for the channel keys.

So TV sellects the real TV mode and doesn't have that KeyMove.

Until recently I thought MYSYS didn't act like its own mode it all (just a reference to other modes by key group) so binding a KeyMove or learned signal to MYSYS mode would be meaningless.

Someone posted some results, I think binding a learned signal in MYSYS mode, I forget what remote. Those results contradict my previous understanding, so now I just know that I don't know, so I can't explain what happened to the KeyMove you tried nor whether something like that could work.

John's suggestion would fix your problem.

The MySys device is treated just like any other (device) key in 2116-ex2.
You define a macro to select which set of keys to use from which devices,
just like any other key you've chosen to act as device selector. There are
two exceptions:

1) since it is a logical device (requiring 4 bits to reference the device),
keymoves aren't supported, so any buttons you want defined for the
*MySys* (and db-09-db-14) device need to be in the base device code
map. A keymove won't be able reference device #'s 8-14.
2) the LCD screen will display MySys vs the device type you defined

Your keymove would have worked (if you had been using a normal device
key), but when you set the Menu key set to use SAT, that loaded all the
keys in the Menu set from the SAT device, including the keymoves,
shifted-keys, and xs shifted-keys.

If you wanted your keymove for Info work, you would have had to define
it for the SAT device, but that would mean your Info key wouldn't work
correctly when you had the SAT device selected and wanted to purely
control the SAT device.

Some other options might be:
1) In SAT device, define a keymove for SAT/Info which uses TV/Info and
for SAT/Shift-Info which uses the original SAT/Info EFC. After doing this,
the Info button will generate TV/Info and if you wanted the SAT/Info you'd
press the green "P" (shift key) and Info.

2) Another option I like to do when I'm in a situation similar to yours is
to define a Long Key Press for the Info key. If I tap the button, it would
produce TV/Info and if I tap-and-hold the button, it would produce
SAT/Info.

You can define a LKP for SAT device and Info key by:
a) moving the original SAT/Info out of the way by defining a keymove for
SAT/Shift-Info with the EFC of the former SAT/Info
b) defining a LKP keymove for SAT/Info which executes TV/Info
if tapped and SAT/Shift-Info if tapped and held.
