I am lost

I am a complete beginner... I don't even have my cord orr remote yet but they are on the way and I wanted to get a jump on the programing. My first question is this.

I downloaded ir and rm and a file for my reciever (Onyko sr-510), I loaded the file in rm and made the changes I wanted, added a few things and saved the file as a *.rmdu. Am I supposed to load that in IR to send it to my remote? If so how, I tried to load that file with IR and it says "invalid character input."

Is there a good tutorial that shows what to do with rm?

I will probably have a million questions and appreciate patientence.

Yes there is. Go to the top of this beginners forum and read the thread entitled "Beginners - read this first". Specifically, read the RM version of the doc entitled "JP1 - How Easy Is It?".
