Doh..! Just got my parallel port JP1 cable from Hovis Direct.. can't connect with IR 6.0. Getting the error "No response from interface, make sure the interface connected."

I have a One for All URC-8820, from CC:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/One-for-All-Universal-Remote-URC8820-/sem/rpsm/oid/115617/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

I really like its sleek and minimalist look.. the connector near the batteries says 'JP1.2'.

Does anyone know if this remote is unsupported?

I have a new Dell Dimension 4700 -- I have played with the LPT1 settings thru the bios.. 'at' compatbility, 'ps2' compatibility, 'ecp', 'epp' compatibility.. I have changed the ports thru the bio (to 378, 278, etc)..

Nothing has worked. Have tried w/o batteries, w/1 battery, w/1 battery reversed.. have tried with the jp1 cable reversed, too..

Any ideas?

Unfortunately, your remote isn't JP1 compatible. Our gurus haven't yet figured out how the JP1.1 interface works, let alone the JP1.2 interface.

Someday we'll probably get it figured out, but I don't think theres much work being done on it at the moment.
