Simple Interface Troubleshooting - Inconsistent Behavior

Post by katiebear00 »

I have three 15-2116 remotes, two of which are brand new. I can't get the interface with IR to work correctly for the new remotes, but the old continues to work fine. With IR ver 3.12, I kept getting the error message "always reading "1" from inverted input S7..." With the batteries removed, the interface test was successful, but during download I'd get the error "did not receive response from remote after sending bus address". If I keep trying the download, it eventually works, but not consistently. The real funny thing is, when I tried it on another computer, all 3 remotes worked flawlessly. Another funny thing is when I upgraded to IR version 5, the errors switched to "no response from the remote". I'm very confused by this inconsistent behavior, and not sure where to start troubleshooting. Any ideas?

Swap the batteries between the remotes.
In many similar cases people have found that workings vs. not working follows the batteries not the remote.

You seem to have demonstrated that on that printer port, with a 4-battery JP1 remote it only works well with low batteries (doesn't work with no batteries nor with new batteries). That is a reasonable result which others have seen before and for which the reasonable work around is to always use JP1 with low batteries.

Wow, you are correct. The problem followed the low batteries. Thanks!
