Durabrand DUR-1700

Post by lmrapp »

I received a Durabrand DUR-1700 DVD player for Christmas. Looks to me like this might be marketed under other brand names. Has anyone figured out IR codes for this one yet? If so, where would I start looking? (Already looked for Durabrand DUR-1700 and found nothing). Thanks,

Larry

Have you read the #1 Code Search FAQ?

Hi Mark,

Yes, I have, but before I went through the process of learning codes etc., I thought I'd ask if someone had done this before. I looked in the JP1 files area, found nothing for Durabrand, but as the post indicated, I think this device is probably marketed under multiple brand names, and it's a lot easier using IR.exe and entering a device code.

I use Cinema 7 + remotes - URC 77801B00 to be exact. If noone responds with a device code, then I'll do the work and post the result in the files section.

Off hand I don't know what other brands might be similar to Durabrand.

The bottom line is that in the time since you posted your first message you could have learned all the codes from the OEM remote and built an upgrade for it (assuming it's not some obscure protocol, etc).

There's a reason why Rob has use of this template is MANDATORY for code search questions in the FAQ post... ;)

Larry, don't go away mad. Please try to understand that we are here everyday spending MANY hours helping people get their remotes up and running, so we don't think we're asking too much when we ask you to put in a few minutes to help yourself.

To save us the hassle of having to post the 3 or 4 posts that preceed this one, we have mandated that you must use the standard template when you post code requests, which you didn't do.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the post - I'm not going away mad, although I was a bit annoyed at Mark's attitude. I guess I wasn't clear in my first post. I was just looking for alternate names for the device I had. I wasn't looking for anyone to do anything other than to mention one if they knew it - that's all. Since nobody has mentioned one, I'll proceed in the usual fashion. I have an unmodified Cinema 7 that can still learn codes, so I'll memorize a few and see if I (or any of you with the template) can figure out the device code and layout.

Btw, even though it's been claimed that the C7 can memorize on any key, I've never been able to get mine to do that. Sometimes I can get other keys to memorize codes, but the 4 "learning keys" seem to be the only ones which can do it consistently.

Mark wasn't giving you any attitude. I totally concur with everything he posted. The post in this, for all the time you have spent posting the 2 or 3 posts you already have done on this issue, plus add in the time the two of us have spent trying to explain things to you, you could easily have learned a few buttons from the original remote to see for yourself what signals it uses.

Durabrand seems to be a "rebrand" type of brand, so your assumption that there's an existing code that would work it is valid. If you were to learn a few buttons and post what protocol and device code they use, along with a few sample EFCs, I bet one of us would be able to tell you what built in code would work it. But even that is still more effort than it would take to just build a perfect upgrade yourself.

As for the issue of the C7 only learning to the smart keys, I know how this remote works, so I have to say it's user error. Apart from the device buttons and the SETUP button, you should be able to learn to all of the other buttons.

My intentions weren't to display attitude, so I apolgize if I did. I was just trying to stress that we need more info than what you initially posted, especially in light of the fact that I (or anyone else it seems) knew of another brand that might use the same code.

Ok, no big deal - I guess we both made mistakes. IAC, I'll post the info here after I get a chance to memorize some codes. Might be a while as I'm doing some year-end business stuff which can't wait.
