Can any one please help me find the IR codes and protocol used for a Dish Network 4000 rcvr?. I tried to call Dish, but they could not help me. I also called Radio Shack and they were not able to help as well. I am atempting to program a RS 15-2117 learning remote via a JP1 cable and IR.exe. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you read the #1 Code Search FAQ?

Well... Yes I have. And I'm not finding the info that I need.
FAQ? wrote:"If you do have a JP1 learning remote, then the answer to your search is already in your hands. All you need to do is learn the buttons from your original remote, using your JP1 learning remote, and then download the memory using IR.exe. This will (usually) tell you what protocol, device codes and OBC/EFC codes are being used. You can then use this info to build an upgrade for your device using either KM or RM."
I tried the learning remote thing and it does not recognize my remote.
How do I do a search on the Yahoo site?

Mark naturally assumed you hadn't read the #1 FAQ thread because you didn't use the
mandatory template.
Doesn't the 4000 series come with an RF remote rather than an IR remote? If so, you'll need to do a hardware mod to the unit to make it respond to IR signals. Once you've done the mod the unit will respond to SAT/0775.

4000 is RF not IR...

Sorry for not using the manditory form... My bad!!
Thanks Robman for the info. Yes this is a RF remote. I assumed that it provided both IR and RF but it apears that the rcvr is only RF right now. That is the most info I have received in the past 2 weeks. I will persue.
Thanks again!

Mr Robman... I used the instructions from carltonbale.com to up-fit my 4000 rcvr yesterday and it works great!! I was able to provide carlton some new Sharp IR parts for the IR rcvr and was able to order all the parts from DigiKey. Carlton then updated his web instructions to provide the new and correct part no's for this mod.
Thanks again!!

FWIW, you might look up the spec sheet for the Sharp IR receiver that you used in the mod and check out the IR carrier frequency. If it's ~38 KHz you may want to modify the protocol, if you have range/recognition problems. If its ~58 KHz then that is the default carrier frequency used in SAT/0775.
Thanks for the Support...

The carrier freq. is 56.8 KHz. This falls well within the range. Thanks! The Sharp GP1UM27XK, which I didn't use, uses the 40 KHz (which I believe Dish uses in there original Equip). But the GP1UM277XK, which I did use, runs at 56.8 KHz. Fits into the reciever like it was made for it!!
