JP1 Remotes

1. Device: lexicon cp2
2. Type of device: surround processor
3. Remote model: urc-8910
4. JP1 user? i could , but first i most learn.
5. Still have original remote? yes but sometimes it refuse to work
6. Checked Yahoo file section? yes but i'm lost
7. Checked Pronto file section yes same as above.

if i found the codes and i need to upgrade using jp-1 cable. i just found (few minutes ago) where to plug it on the remote. but where on the computer.

I supposed i need to use a program. What the easiest/the best to use.
Do i need more than one program?
p.s. english is not my first language.

I was wondering if a diy jp1 was easy and cheap. it says yes. do the part are easy to find? ( i don't live in a big city) Do i find those more in a computer store or in an electronic store?

You pretty much just need 2 resistors and 1 diode, which you should be able to get anywhere. These go inside a DB25 shell, which shouldn't be too hard to find. The tricky part is the 6-hole IDC connector, which you could make by trimming down a larger hard-drive connector. All in all, most people find that it's alot quicker and easier just to buy one ready made, they only cost $14 shipped.

Maybe you live overseas, but even so, the shipping won't be much more.

My first 6 pin connector was made from an old CDRom audio cable. The two 4 pin connectors placed back to back , taped together and wired appropriately worked just fine. The connection between pins 1 and 2 make it easy to see the correct orientation.

You have an original remote that works at least some of the time, and you have a JP1 learning remote, therefore you have everything you need to create the code yourself.

I upgrade over the phone ( strange technology) the code for the lexicon cp-2
surround sound processor is 0214.

We haven't seen that code before, so could you please download your remote's memory using IR.exe and then post the file in the Diagnosis Area. If UEI also sent you a list of advanced codes, please post those too.

first i have to build my jp1 cable, than i'll send everything i can.

p.s. they only send me that upgrade code over the phone.

maybe if someone live close to them they could ask for a lot of advance code?

When you get an upgrade over the phone, you should ask them to email you the advanced codes that go with it.

Find a 25 pin serial header from an old 386-486 PC.
This has the hood with 9 wires running to a 10 pin header.
Cut off 2 rows of holes (I used a Dremel tool).
Solder the diode, resistors and wires in the proper place.
Voila, you have a JP-1 cable. Total time <10 minutes.
IR.exe came up and read the remote perfectly.

These came from OFA. I did not get the advanced codes.
A lot of these buttons need to be reassigned, and other buttons added.
My 9910 will learn these, then I'll build an upgrade code, or try to, since I'm new to JP1.

I got a set of the raw Hex codes for both of these units from

Loaded the text file into a Palm handheld Memo then imported into Omniremote software and everything worked except the vol+- had to be repeatedly pressed instead of just held down.

I already have the basic info for MISC/0221, it uses the Denon protocol with a device code of 28. It was actually pre-loaded into just one remote, the old Maestro II.

But by all means, please create working upgrades and add them to the file section when you're done.
