Sad Sorry, does not look like it has any of the required features or the means to add them to make them jp1able.

I also don't think Rob would be selling them for $1 if they were. He would charge atleast $2 Laughing . Rob's big sale

I just sold all my remaining URC-4605s, so I'm sold out of these cheap remotes now. And no, it's not JP1 able in any shape or form.

Now only does it not have an EEPROM, but when you do a 981 reset, you only get two flashes, which means it's not even programmed to look for an EEPROM.

Now, the new URC-4041 on the other hand, also ships with an EEPROM and doesn't have any PCB spots for one, but when you do a 981 you get 2 short flashes followed by one long flash, which tells me that it's programmed for an EEPROM, so I might try adding one (which is going to be tricky)

Did you ever do anything with the URC-4041? I just picked one up after spending the last week reading all the wonderful info on this site and building a cable and hacking my other remotes.

I saw this one and bought it to see if it was JP1 compatable. I tore it out of the package and immediatly broke it open after seeing the spot in the back of the battery compartment where a JP1 could go but no holes. Then I noticed no eprom which probably makes it really a waste of time to play with anyway.

Did you ever try to add an eeprom or just a JP1 cable.

Is there a list around that shows what remotes are jp1 or not? I do have the .xls file (version 14) that tells all the ones that DO have JP1 or can have it but I think a list that has the remotes on it that people have checked that do not have JP1 would be valuable too.

Anyway, now that I am completely off topic. I will end.

First time poster and hopefully not last.

Thanks again everyone for an excellent information base and for getting me addicted to ONE MORE HOBBY!!!

Smile
Mitch

P.S. By the way, the Big Lots store in my town has the 4041's for $7.99

I actually broke my URC-4041 messing with it. While I'm confident that the firmware in the remote supports an EEPROM, the hardware doesn't. The SDA and SCL lines are not exposed and with these glob mounted chips there's no way to access them. If it had been a DIP mounted chip, like the old 6805s that would have been a different story.

Still, I like the design of the URC-4041, so I hope it's an indication of what some future remotes will look like.
